With deep roots dated over a century ago, the 17-hectare HealthCity Novena is an established dynamic healthcare precinct that sits between Moulmein Road and Irrawaddy Road in central Singapore. Its establishments include Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Dover Park Hospice, Ren Ci Hospital, the National Skin Centre, the National Neuroscience Institute and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Launched on 30 August 2013 by former Minister for Health, Mr Gan Kim Yong, this was the first mega integrated healthcare development to spearhead a complete and holistic eco-system that links up a wide spectrum of health services, research and education, commercial, leisure and public spaces.

This master plan will be developed in two major phases. In the first

phase, we have seen the completion and opening of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine's Clinical Sciences Building, the National Centre for Infectious Diseases and the Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation. The last two buildings, the revamped and expanded National Skin Centre and the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Integrated Care Hub are set to open in 2023.

The second phase will map out new care models for outpatient and ambulatory care, in line with TTSH's expanded mission of population health. More details will be released soon.

This will be an exciting space designed to realise tomorrow's healthcare today. HealthCity Novena, where Healthy Life is Central.

Connectivity

Making HealthCity Novena more inclusive for people with different needs is one of the top development priorities. Especially for those with greater mobility needs that need to travel between buildings for their medical visits. Their movement around HealthCity need to be sheltered, seamless and safe.

In 2030, more than 30,000 people will be expected to circulate through HealthCity Novena daily. A key feature of this hub is hence connectivity – ensuring that people and traffic flows are smooth, safe and rational, and always designed with the community in mind.

A highly connected network of public walkways, streets, boulevards and roads is planned, which means moving into, through and within the hub will simply be a breezy affair. All buildings will be linked at three levels – above ground, street level and basement.

The route design process took in considerations differing needs of the people here, for example, how patients would be cared for throughout their time here and their movement from one place to another. Inpatient movement between healthcare buildings will be via dedicated skybridges, built at the same level throughout HealthCity to ensure hassle free transfers and privacy.

Outpatients who are here for their medical appointments will find their clinics located nearer to the Novena MRT station for easy access and with pathways to even the furthest facilities designed to be pleasant, sheltered and safe.
