Mission Statement

Vision: Building a Community of Carers
Mission: To be a Key Partner to the Hospital and the Community in Adding Years of Healthy Life

You can make a difference in the lives of patients and residents!

Volunteerism at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) officially started in 1948 with the formation of the Diversional Therapy Unit, with volunteers at the time engaging patients with tuberculosis to create handmade crafts to raise funds for the needy patients at TTSH. More than 75 years later, volunteers remain an integral part of our care team in enhancing the holistic well-being of both patients in the hospital and residents in the community.

Our volunteers learn new skills and create meaningful experiences that will enrich patients' care experiences and empower residents to take charge of their own health. Join us to make a difference today!

Our Diversional Therapy Unit volunteers hold several bazaars a year selling handicrafts to raise funds for the needy patients in TTSH.

Q: I may not be able to volunteer during some periods of the year due to school commitments or travel plans. Can I still volunteer?

A: Of course! We understand that volunteers have other commitments, and we are happy to accommodate flexible volunteering. However, we strongly encourage all volunteers to complete at least 48 hours a year. In the event of limited volunteer openings, preference will be given to volunteers who are able to fulfil this commitment.

Q: I do not wish to receive the vaccinations that are mandatory for volunteers. Can I still volunteer?
A: Unfortunately, our vaccination requirements are mandatory for the protection of our volunteers, patients and staff. However, if you have any medical condition(s) that prevent you from being vaccinated, please inform us and provide an official doctor's note, and we will conduct an evaluation on a case-by-case basis.
