Jalan Kayu residents will now be able to enjoy a new wellness community health club in the heart of Serangoon North. Spearheaded by the Jalan Kayu Citizens' Consultative Committee, the Jalan Kayu Community Health Club (JKCHC) officially opened on 4 February 2023 with the vision of enabling residents to embark on a holistic health and wellness journey, and take ownership of their health through various health and wellness programmes in their community.

We are proud to be piloting the first community health centric club in Jalan Kayu that focuses on providing our residents with tools and platforms to equip themselves to adopt a holistic health and wellness journey in the community. We are deeply appreciative of our healthcare allies, community and corporate partners for joining us in our movement to empower healthy living in Singapore”

- Ms Ng Ling Ling: MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC and Adviser (Jalan Kayu) at JKCHC’s official opening on 4 February 2023

Central Health partners play a key role in JKCHC’s activities. TTSH has curated a One Menu of Health and Wellness Programmes in the neighbourhood to bring a wide range of programmes such as health talks, health screenings, fitness activities and group coaching sessions to Jalan Kayu residents. Earlier this year, our Health Coaches conducted a series of group coaching sessions at JKCHC, equipping residents with the skills and healthy lifestyle habits to better manage and prevent the onset of chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Other partners such as GPs and Community Partners can also tap on the One Menu of Programmes to recommend local programmes to their patients or residents based on their interests, health goals and needs. This would encourage resident participation in meaningful activities that suit their health and medical status, and empower continued social engagement in their community. Through grassroots initiatives like the JKCHC, Central Health partners will continue to work closely with community providers to build healthier and happier communities.
