Biodata

Dr Lee Keng Thiam graduated from The National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1997. He received his Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2001. He completed Advanced Specialist Training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2006, and was registered as an Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Singapore Medical Council since May 2006. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

As a recipient of the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship, Dr Lee underwent fellowship training in Sports Surgery and Upper Limb Surgery at the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre and Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne, Australia in 2006/07.

Dr Lee is currently a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and Head of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) since July 2015. He was Head of the Sports Medicine & Surgery Service from December 2009 to October 2015, and assumes the leadership role again from January 2017 to present. He was also former Deputy Head of Department from November 2011 to July 2015, and TTSH Clinical Board Member from 2016 to 2021.

His main areas of clinical interests include the arthroscopic ("key-hole") treatment of upper and lower limbs sports injuries, as well as the management of all shoulder and elbow conditions.

Besides clinical work, Dr Lee is also actively involved in the education of local medical students. He was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor by Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS in 2010, and promoted to Adjunct Associate Professor in 2015. He is concurrently an Adjunct Associate Professor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU since 2016. As a Core Clinical Faculty Member of the NHG Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program since 2011, Dr Lee also teaches and mentors the next generation of Orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore. He has also trained several overseas surgeons from Asia in sports surgery in the past decade.

Dr Lee was awarded TTSH Top 10 Teacher for Academic Year (AY) 2010-11, 2015-16 and 2018-19, and was presented with TTSH Best Teacher Award, Division of Surgery for AY 2016-17. He also received NUS Orthopaedic Teaching Excellence Award for AY 2012-13, 2013-14 & 2014-15, and NUS Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence for AY 2014-15 and 2015-16. Over his more than 2 decades of clinical practice, he has also received several awards for excellence in patient service and clinical quality improvement projects.
