Singapore - Dr Tang Kong Choong assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) from 1 April 2024. He takes over from Professor Eugene Fidelis Soh who has been the CEO since 2015.

During his tenure, Prof Soh's visionary leadership has brought TTSH to a new level as the tertiary hospital has grown in size and capabilities with the setup of the
National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and
TTSH Integrated Care Hub (ICH). Prof Soh was a calm and steady hand in leading the hospital's response to COVID-19 during the prolonged pandemic.
Prof Soh has been the National Healthcare Group's (NHG) lead in the planning and development of the 17-hectres
HealthCity Novena Master Plan since 2009. He also played key roles to lead population health and integrated care efforts including health and social care partnerships, integrated care programmes, and value-based care.
Under Prof Soh the hospital has made leaps in harnessing innovation to create new models of care and improve workforce efficiency. He drove important developments such as, the Command Control and Communications system to manage hospital resources and operational decisions, the
TTSH Ang Mo Kio Specialist Centre which brings specialist care into the community and the set-up of the
Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) which spearheads solutions for tomorrow's healthcare challenges.
Prof Soh will be taking on a new role as Deputy GCEO (Population Health), NHG effective 1 April 2024. In his new role, he will drive Population Health strategies to build a healthy and engaged population in the Central and North of Singapore.
Prof Soh will concurrently be appointed as Executive Director, CHI, to oversee the Centre, and continue as Chairman of CHI Co-Learning Networks. He will be leading CHI in expanding its efforts to support healthcare innovation at NHG's various campuses.
Dr Tang Kong Choong
Succeeding Prof Soh as the new CEO of TTSH, is Dr Tang Kong Choong, who was the former Chief of Medical Corps of the Singapore Armed Forces. He was responsible for the planning of naval medical support in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami and had spent a stint in Afghanistan in preparation for SAF's first medical team deployment.
Dr Tang joined TTSH in 2020 as a Senior Consultant with the Department of Anaesthesiology, Pain and Intensive Care Medicine, a department he had worked in as a visiting specialist from MINDEF, since 2010. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he crucially contributed to the setting up of TTSH's ICU headquarters, emergency planning and operations command.
Dr Tang was appointed Assistant CEO in April 2021, and subsequently as Deputy CEO, TTSH in April 2022. In his role as Deputy CEO, Dr Tang assisted with the oversight of Hospital Services and Corporate Services portfolios and supported in driving the hospital's Leadership & Organisational Development to build and strengthen a collective leadership, communities of practice, and a strong innovation culture at TTSH.
As the former Chief of Medical Corps of the Singapore Armed Forces, Dr Tang brings with him a wealth of experience in leadership, resource planning, crisis management and operational readiness. As the new CEO of TTSH, Dr Tang will lead the hospital in advancing tertiary care for patients and developing a robust academic mission for the future.
