By TPY Kopi Session Caregivers’ Support Group

Ms Janet Koh, one of the caregivers of the TPY Kopi Session Caregivers’ Support Group has been the sole caregiver to her mother, 85-year-old Mdm Ng. Janet's mother suffered a stroke twice and was diagnosed with dementia in 2014. The second stroke resulted in right-body paralysis and late stage dementia, causing her mother to become bed-bound.

Janet has been caring for her mother 24/7 for almost 11 years now. Since the beginning, Janet knew in her heart that she had to embark on an important journey of love and care for her mother. She now shares her wealth of caregiving knowledge to help others in the support group to manage situations that she experienced before.

Janet inspires younger caregivers by actively encouraging them through stories and activities. She has been a regular attendee at the TPY Kopi Session Caregivers’ Support Group, formed as part of the ground-up, inclusive Dementia-Friendly Communities (DFC) initiative by key partners in Toa Payoh, Bishan and Ang Mo Kio.
