Seniors got their health checked at SGO’s functional screening station and attended free health talks and enjoyed fun exercises.

Health talks, games, fun aerobic exercise sessions and more! That was what residents at Serangoon Central experienced at the NTUC Health’s Healthy Ageing Roadshow. Co-organised with the Silver Generation Office (SGO), the roadshow encouraged seniors to age actively and healthily.

NTUC Health provides a comprehensive and integrated suite of elderly care services, including senior day care, nursing home, and home personal care. They also run active ageing centres, community support for vulnerable seniors, dental clinics and family medicine clinic.

Over 400 participants attended the roadshow and treated to an engaging performance by MyFirstSkool preschoolers.

Seniors with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, can receive medical support from the family physicians at NTUC Health’s Family Medicine Clinic which is co-located with NTUC Health’s Day Care Centre for Seniors (Serangoon Central). The newly opened Day Care centre offers day care services for seniors living with dementia and those who require rehabilitation. The suite of services will enable seniors to age well and receive the necessary care and support in their communities.

The rehabilitation and physiotherapy services offered by NTUC Health’s day care centre help seniors and their loved ones to recover from accidents, surgery or illness. Mr Tan Kim Seng, a 62-year-old Serangoon resident has been visiting the centre on a weekly basis to improve his lower limb strength and endurance.

Another resident in Serangoon, Mr Ravindran S/O Narayanan, also 62-year-old, shared that he has gained self-confidence and improved mental and physical strength after an 8-year journey with the centre.

Apart from centre-based services, NTUC Health also offers islandwide home care services to better serve the needs of homebound residents living in our neighbourhood. Together with partners in the region, NTUC Health is committed to provide better care for our residents!
