Hear From Our Discoverers!

I found out about TTSH Nursing Discovery programmes through TTSH Nursing Open House held at the beginning of the year. Initially, I have expected it to be the run-of-the-mill hospital attachments I had experienced during my secondary school. However, after the attachment programme, I remembered telling my friends how different this had been!

I was fortunate to be attached to a nurse on one-to-one basis, a privilege that you might not even have even as a nursing student. Given so, I had the opportunities to ask all the questions I had about having a nursing career from a professional. Not only did the nurses welcome my presence, they were very ready to share their personal experiences and unique insight that I would not be able to find online. At the same time, I got to witness the first-hand rigour of nursing profession and how it felt like to be in the shoes of a nurse.

Through this Discovery programme, I had learnt so much more than I thought I possibly would and I would definitely recommend to those who are keeping their options open, or wondering if they are suited for nursing profession. Well, I've found my answer through this experience!"

Pei Ling and Chin Ning first encountered TTSH Nursing through MOHH's Healthcare Attachment programme in 2017. They were attracted by how passionate the nurses were and the vibrant nursing culture. Pei Ling went on to become a Healthcare Assistant Trainee for 3 months where she continued to forge many meaningful friendships in the hospital.

Along with their buddies - Ashley and Daryl, the four of them entered Ngee Ann Polytechnic nursing diploma and remained active in student engagement through open houses and student ambassadorships.

The four buddies are currently sponsored with TTSH. Read their interview with The New Paper.
