Recently, I joined a dragon boat event, not knowing it was more than just a race – it turned out to be a meaningful experience filled with teamwork, competition, and a deeper purpose I did not expect. This event was part of the IHH Singapore Sea Regatta 2024, which was not just about paddling, but also about giving back to the community with a charitable cause.

The Invite to Paddle

When I first heard about the IHH Singapore Sea Regatta through NHG's call for participants, I got curious and asked a few colleagues to join me. Back then, I did not realize it was an event to raise awareness for breast cancer and promote active aging, something I was happy to support even in a small way.

The Day of the Event

On the day of the Regatta, despite the grey skies and light rain, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. We had to report earlier than usual, joining teams from other healthcare groups, dragon boat clubs, and volunteer organizations. The mood was lively, full of laughter and good vibes as we geared up for the race. It was not just about winning – it was about teamwork, resilience, and giving back.

The Dragon Boating Experience

Paddling in sync with my teammates felt amazing. Every stroke reminded us of our shared goal. The energy from the event, along with cheers from NHG supporters, made it an unforgettable experience. We pushed each other, feeling the rush as we neared the finish line.

Paddling for a Purpose

Taking part in the IHH Singapore Sea Regatta was more than just a race – it gave me the chance to make a small, meaningful contribution to the fight against breast cancer. This experience taught me that even unplanned efforts can make a big difference. Every small action counts, and together, we can create a wave of support and awareness.

The Power of Community

One of the best parts of dragon boating is the teamwork. Training together helped us bond with people we did not know well, even within the same organization. It was inspiring to see everyone come together for a common cause, strengthening our connections and showing how powerful a united community can be.

In Conclusion

Looking back at my experience in the IHH Singapore Sea Regatta 2024, I feel grateful. I not only had a fantastic day on the water, but I also played a small role in supporting a meaningful cause. I encourage everyone to get involved in events like this – together, we can paddle towards a healthier and more caring community.

Let’s keep riding the pink wave and make a difference together!
