Orbital Surgery

Download PDF, 1.80MB, PDF

Orbital Surgery involves the area of the orbit (eye socket). This area (orbit) is bound by the bones surrounding the eyeball. It is close to several important structures within the skull, including the sinuses and the brain.

You will need an orbital surgery:

  1. To repair an orbital fracture
  2. To remove a tumour
  3. To do a biopsy of the tissue in the orbit
  4. To remove the source of an infection
  5. To decompress the orbit to relieve the pressure on the optic nerve
