Biodata

Dr Dorai Raj D Appadorai graduated from Manipal University, Malaysia with a gold medal in Ophthalmology. He completed his housemanship and further training as a medical officer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, Malaysia. He relocated to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to commence his specialist training in Internal Medicine in 2012. He completed his training in Advanced Internal Medicine and is now a Senior Consultant in the Department of General Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Dorai Raj has a special interest in health professions and medical education. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Health Professions Education with Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Principal Lead and Assistant Dean designate at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. In his role as a clinician and educator, he plays active roles in the training and supervision of medical undergraduates, postgraduates and residents.

Dr Dorai is also actively involved in staff wellbeing initiatives. He is a Welfare Officer at the Department of General Medicine. He is also a member of Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Office for the Protection of Employees (TTSHope).

Dr Dorai has won numerous awards for his contribution towards medical education, namely the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors AY 2020/21, Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence 2021, TTSH Top 20 Teaching Award 2024, among others.
