​Dr Howe graduated from the University of Singapore in 1980 and obtained her Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine in 1985. She was one of the first generation rheumatologists in Singapore who joined the department in Tan Tock Seng Hospital after it was set up by the late Professor Feng Pao Hsii. She completed her rheumatology fellowship in 1989 at Hammersmith Hospital in London under the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP). She is a master educator who many generations of medical students, residents, senior residents enjoy learning from. Her main research work has been on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Spondyloarthritis, with more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She is presently Clinical Core Faculty member of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Senior Residency Programme, and President of the Singapore Society of Rheumatology.
