Biodata

Dr Koh Yan Tong is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Koh completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2012, where she graduated with Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery, and was placed on the Dean’s list in 2009-2011. During her undergraduate days, she was selected to undergo a medical elective under Prof. Albert S. Jun at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, USA) in 2011. She was subsequently a recipient of the Ministry of Health Training Award for the Ophthalmology Residency programme, and underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology, where she was awarded the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from National University of Singapore in 2017, and successfully completed her Ophthalmology specialist exit examination in 2019. She is also currently a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) as of 2019.

She completed her local clinical fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in 2022 at NHGEI. She was then awarded Ministry of Health Healthcare Manpower Development Programme scholarship to pursue further training at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and Princess Alexendra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh. She has also completed clinical observerships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, as well as the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow. Dr Koh is active in education and teaching – she is an appointed Physician Faculty of the NHG Residency as well as an appointed Clinical Tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

Dr Koh is active in clinical research, having presented in Ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally, as well as published scientific papers in multiple peer-reviewed international Ophthalmology journals. She is involved in community service and has participated in various projects locally and in the region. She is also part of the Comprehensive Eye Care Services team and is actively involved in the development of Primary Eye Care.
