Biodata

Dr Leong Jiajie Nicholas is an Associate Consultant Sports Physician. His practise involves diagnosing and managing patients with various sports injuries and musculoskeletal symptoms.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM) in 2014 and was first accepted into Family Medicine Residency Programme. He also served as Chief Resident in 2020 and attained his Master of Medicine (MMed) Family Medicine in the same year. Dr Leong subsequently underwent three years of advanced speciality training in Sports Medicine, during which he was involved in the care of national athletes during his Singapore Sports Institute posting. He successfully completed his traineeship in 2024 and has been certified as a Sports Physician by the Singapore Medical Council.

An active sportsman, Dr Leong is currently still a competitive squash player in the local squash league. Understanding the rigors of training to achieve high performance himself allows him to best advice and treat his athlete patients. He also strongly believes in Exercise is Medicine and the importance remaining physically active to achieve its health-related benefits. He sees patients of all age groups and strives to not only treat them to return to daily activities but also to enable them to return to their hobbies and sports.

Dr Leong is proficient in the use of ultrasound to diagnose various musculoskeletal conditions and his clinical interests include utilising Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) as well as Therapeutic Injections to complement physiotherapy in the rehabilitative process for patients with sports and musculoskeletal injuries.

Aside from clinical work, Dr Leong is also active in the education of undergraduates as well as fellow doctors. He is currently a clinical tutor for NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the National Technological University School of Medicine. He also sits in the Graduate Diploma of Sports Medicine (GDSM) Advisory Committee that provides guidance on its curriculum and course evaluation. He is also part of the hospital’s Patient Safety Faculty that is involved in the training and education of junior doctors to ensure quality and safe care is delivered to the patients.
