Biodata

Dr. Chong is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with the Department of General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He obtained his medical degree from The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and completed his foundation year training in Glasgow, where he was registered with the General Medical Council UK. In 2014, Dr. Chong received his post-graduate diploma (MRCS)and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He then pursued his General Surgery training with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) in Singapore.

Dr. Chong obtained his Masters of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore in 2019 and was accredited as a specialist General Surgeon by the Ministry of Health in 2020 after passing the Joint Specialty Fellowship Examinations in General Surgery. He was subsequently appointed as Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCS).

In 2022, Dr. Chong was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship to advance his training in Endovascular and Vascular Surgery. He completed his fellowship at The Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia, from 2024 to 2025, where he specialized in complex endovascular peripheral arterial and dialysis access interventions as well as Renal Transplant surgery. During his fellowship, he was also trained in anterior lumbar spinal access exposure surgery as part of the ALIF procedure performed routinely by Spine and Neurosurgeons. 

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Chong was admitted as a Fellow of The European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS) after passing the examination by the Section and Board of Vascular Surgery, European Union of Medical Specialists.

Dr. Chong's clinical interests include diabetic limb salvage, for which he performs both open surgical bypass and hybrid endovascular revascularization of peripheral arterial disease. He is also skilled in the open and endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (EVAR), endovascular repair of thoracic aneurysms (TEVAR), endovenous ablation of varicose veins, iliac vein stenting, and complex dialysis access creation/interventions for patients with end-stage kidney disease.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Chong is actively involved in teaching. He is appointed as a Clinical Lecturer by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and serves as a faculty member of the Post Graduate Year 1 program at NHG. He is also an active member of the Society For Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons of Singapore.​
