Biodata

Dr Tan Yen Pin is a Consultant in the Department of General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He specializes in general surgery with subspecialty interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery.​

Dr Tan graduated from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2009. He subsequently joined National Healthcare Group (NHG) General Surgery Residency Training in 2013. He obtained post graduate diploma MRCS in 2012 and Master of Medicine in Surgery from National University of Singapore in 2016. He has been accredited as a specialist by the Ministry of Health, Singapore since 2018, having passed the Joint Specialty Fellowship Examinations in General Surgery and exited as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. After completing 2 years of local fellowship training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, he subsequently underwent overseas fellowship training. His training focused on laparoscopic anatomical liver resections and pancreatic resections in Far Eastern Memorial Hospital Taiwan under Dr Chen Kuo-Hsin. He also underwent robotic pancreatic resection training in Taipei Veteran General Hospital and Asan Medical Center, Seoul Korea.

Other than clinical work, Dr Tan has strong interest and commitment in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He has won multiple teaching awards over the years signifying his commitment in teaching. He is an adjunct assistant professor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and clinical senior lecturer for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is also a core clinical faculty for National Health Group General Surgery Residency Program. He is currently an elected executive committee member of Singapore Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and an active member of Asia-Pacific and International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.​​
