Multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation after Major Lower Limb Amputation

Synopsis

The loss of a lower limb has severe effects on a person’s physical function, mobility and ability to perform activities of daily living. As a result, this impacts negatively on their mental well-being, social participation and integration. The goal of amputee rehabilitation is to help amputees to gain their ambulation successfully with the use of a prosthesis and to re integrate back into society.

Description

This workshop consists of lectures and case studies, presented by the multidisciplinary team members who are experts in the area of Amputee Rehabilitation, to aid participants in the understanding of a multidisciplinary approach in caring for an amputee. This workshop also aims to provide participants with insight on how different members of the multidisciplinary team, prognosticate the ability of an amputee patient to use a prosthesis.

There are also attachment opportunities for participants at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
