Hepatobiliary and Pancreas surgery team of Tan Tock Seng Hospital manages patients with diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. Some common diseases of these organs include:

The team consists of specialists who are trained in open, laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. The team also manages patients with hernia and common acute surgical conditions. The specialists perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic liver resection, laparoscopic and robotic pancreas surgery, laparoscopic common bile duct surgery, laparoscopic / open hernia surgery and endoscopy procedures like gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Specialists participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings and provide evidence based personalised care for patients with above diseases. The team engages in clinical research activities to ensure high quality services are rendered to patients. In addition to surgical services, a complete range of services is offered to our patients. Radiofrequency/microwave ablation, trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE), radio-embolization (Yittrium 90) and irreversible electroporation treatments are also available.
The team is supported by a clinical nurse coordinator who assists in patient education, research activities and quality improvement initiatives. The team at Tan Tock Seng Hospital has special expertise in managing elderly patients with complex cancers and incorporates prehabilitation program to provide holistic patient-centric care. All patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal liver metastases and pancreatic carcinoma are managed by enhanced recovery initiatives. We conduct regular public forums to enhance patient awareness for common diseases like gallstones, liver cancer, pancreatic cancers etc. Annual general practice symposiums are also held to establish community partnerships and collaboration with primary care providers.
