Introduction to Orthopaedics Services
The Orthopaedic Nurse Clinician (NC) provides care to patients with actual or potential disruptions of the musculoskeletal system in the acute in patient and out patient settings.
The musculoskeletal system can be affected by degenerative, traumatic, inflammatory, neuromuscular, congenital, metabolic, and oncologic disorders throughout the lifespan. The NC collaborates with the orthopaedic physician and other health care providers to promote patient independence, optimum mobility, comfort and wellness.
Our Services Include:
- Prompt and timely individualized splinting and casting services (i.e. emergency splint, resting splints, full cast, bracing and focus rigidity cast) and care to the patient who experiences musculoskeletal injuries.
- Individualized traction set up (i.e. Skin, Skeletal, Fixed And Sliding Traction ) for trauma and non trauma musculoskeletal injuries
- Patient education and counselling to assist patient to prevent injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
