TTSH Nursing Discovery Programme
An immersion program that allows students aged 16 and above to experience nursing in one of the busiest restructured hospitals in Singapore.
Participants will be able to observe what TTSH nurses do in a typical day in the inpatient wards. They will then buddy up with a Registered Nurse and participate in basic nursing activities.
Hear From Our Discoverers!
I found out about TTSH Nursing Discovery programmes through TTSH Nursing Open House held at the beginning of the year. Initially, I have expected it to be the run-of-the-mill hospital attachments I had experienced during my secondary school. However, after the attachment programme, I remembered telling my friends how different this had been!
I was fortunate to be attached to a nurse on one-to-one basis, a privilege that you might not even have even as a nursing student. Given so, I had the opportunities to ask all the questions I had about having a nursing career from a professional. Not only did the nurses welcome my presence, they were very ready to share their personal experiences and unique insight that I would not be able to find online. At the same time, I got to witness the first-hand rigour of nursing profession and how it felt like to be in the shoes of a nurse.
Through this Discovery programme, I had learnt so much more than I thought I possibly would and I would definitely recommend to those who are keeping their options open, or wondering if they are suited for nursing profession. Well, I've found my answer through this experience!"
